Introduction

So I've finally entered the blogosphere. Why you might ask? (I've asked myself the same thing). Well primarily, I want to contribute back to the blogosphere. It has helped me on numerous occasions and I’d like to give something back. Every day I learn something new and I like to think there’s something noble in contributing to the sum of human knowledge, even if it’s an infinitesimally small amount.

So, how can I contribute? I think the things I know best is probably topics related to my work. For the last 20-odd years, I’ve been working with forms technologies. I started in the Canadian Government using forms software called iPrint from a company called Indigo Software. I joined the company in 1989 as a consultant right around the time they were changing the product name from iPrint to JetForm. At the time, the company had about 30 employees. Over the next 12 years the company grew from to around 700 employees and changed its name to Accelio. The Accelio name only lasted 6 months, before the company was acquired by Adobe.

I worked at Adobe for almost 2 years before leaving to join a company called Indigo Pacific (Indigo Pacific being named the same as my previous company was no co-incidence, but that story will have to wait for another day). The North American arm of Indigo Pacific was acquired by my present company, Four Point Solutions (or 4 Point for short). 4 Point does Adobe-related consulting work throughout North America. We specialize in the Adobe Enterprise products which are primarily comprised of the Adobe LiveCycle product line and the Acrobat product line, hence the name of this blog.

I regularly work with and develop for the LiveCycle products, and my experiences and observations will be the primary topic of this blog. I hope that whoever reads this will find a nugget or two of information that will help them and maybe they’ll be inspired to give a little back too.
